September 24

After killing a couple of hours at Skillman's, we head to the airport to send Mark off on his overseas trip to Oregon......

Thanks for coming over , Mark. Hope you had a good time wandering all over the US and I hope we get the chance to do it again soon.
I'll try to get over to "Oregon" soon as well. Just can't get enough of riding in the rain, ya know.
Nice collection indeed....

They also have a showroom where they keep the cars after restoration. Nice that they let ya walk around and check stuff out. A few old bikes as well.......

We land in Indianapolis and have some time to kill before Mark's flight takes off. Nothing kills time better than a trip to Skillman's auto dealer, (see: http://www.rayskillmanford.com/ ). They have a small room at the back of the dealership where

they restore old cars. Kinda cool....

The last two days of the ride were straight, flat and boring as we rode the interstate for 1,300 miles. I didn't take a single picture and I don't think Mark did either. Nothing to see here folks, move along.
Imagine a field that starts off as grass and slowly turns to wheat after about 400 miles. Then is slowly turns into corn after another 500 miles.  There; you've got the perfect picture of it in your mind.

Now mix in a steady rain for the first 3 hours followed by a steady 45 mph cold cross wind for 300 miles. Now you know why we didn't take any pics.

We only had one day in Vail although we had planned two. Mark wanted to get back to Indy to have a day to unwind before having to get on a plane for 7 hours. Made sense to me, so we hiked outta Vail the next day.
Managed a ride over Monarch Pass though...

We got into town just before the rains came. We managed to dodge the rains all day and were very lucky to do so.....
